It is with mixed emotion that we announce the peaceful passing of Juliana Hegedus (née Magyar), 84 on Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Survived by and lovingly remembered by her spouse of 62 years, Joseph and their children Joe, Mary, John, Sue (& Tim), Frank (& Judy), and Les (& Anne); her brother Frank and sister Vera; her grandchildren Adrian, Ashlea (& Brian), Stephen, Scott (& Allison), Brandon, Jacob, and Evan, nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.

Juliana left the former Yugoslavia during the war. Irene, Kathleen, and Steve Vida accompanied her. Her aunt in Pennsylvania sponsored her and from there she came to Toronto, Ontario. Juliana was very active in the Hungarian church. It was there that she met Joe Hegedus. Joe often went to the restaurant where she waitressed - to eat cherry pie and convinced Juliana to go out with him. They married, weathered Hurricane Hazel, and had six children within 11 years. Juliana proved to be the strong one staying home to raise their children and she persevered through many visits to the hospital with their active children. After the children were all in school, Juliana worked at Canadian Tire for many years making great friendships. Her pride and joy were her seven grandchildren who called her, 'Mama'.
