It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mario Tartaglia, at his home surrounded by his family on April 22nd, 2016.

Son of the late Concetta and Pasquale of Vinchiaturo, Campobasso, Molise. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Teresa and daughter, Cristina. Beloved and proud father of Pasquale (Franca), Mario (Siobain), Connie (John) and Antonello (Lavinia). Adored Nonno to his pride and joy, Cristina, Julio, Catherine, Michael, Dante, Luciano, Emma, Lily and Great Granddaughter Layla. He will be missed by his sisters Luisa and Mena and brother Antonio. Pre-deceased by brothers Gaetano and Francesco.

Mario worked for over 50 years as an established and successful landscaper and he was as humble as the plants he planted. He was a true gardener, a true lover of landscaping and plants and the beauty they created. His joy was creating large luscious spaces for his family, friends and clients to enjoy.

His work was a kind of prayer, a way he connected with something beyond himself. When we were young, we may not have understood why he worked so hard, so late and so much. It was only later that we understood that he worked so much so that we wouldn't have to. His last days were not easy. Always a giver, now he had to receive. He was the most tenacious person we knew. Powerfully focused and fuelled by a need to be his own man which he accomplished in countless ways until the very end.

It is no coincidence that Mario left us on Earth Day. He is certainly landscaping in the heavens already and making it an even more beautiful place for when we arrive.

If desired, donations can be made to Hospice Vaughan.
