In loving memory of Domenico (Mimmo) Giovanni Melia

Our hearts are broken and we have suffered a tremendous loss as we announce the death of Mimmo at the young age of 50.

Mimmo was born and raised in Camini, Reggio Calabria Italy, where he later would meet his adored wife of 28 years, Franca Nesci. In Canada, they started their life together and raised a beautiful family, first in Sudbury then later moving to Toronto.

Mimmo leaves behind the love of his life Franca who is heartbroken. He was the wonderful daddy to Nicholas and Natasha and to Daniella and John whom he cared and loved as his own. His canine buddy Hannah is lost without him and will have to cheer for Mimmo's Juventus team without him.

His parents Cosimo and Albania lament over their loss along with his cherished brothers Tonino (Emilia) and Roberto (Maria). He is sadly missed by his parents-in-law Giuseppe and Giusepina Nesci and his brother-in-laws Andrew (Deborah), Dominic (Debbie) and Sam (Sharon). He leaves behind many, many special nieces, nephews, great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and some very loyal friends. He was compare to Sabrina and Matthew and they loved him so much and will miss him dearly.

The 'kids', as he called them, Amanda, Ryan, Chris, Marcella, Sabrina, Matthew, John and Daniella hold the honour of walking by his side as they lay him to rest.

Some very special family members and friends were his rock during his difficult health journey. They were so proud of how he fought with determination to win his battle.

His circle of friends extend throughout the globe and he genuinely loved and cared for many whom he held very close to his heart. You know who you are and he misses you as much as you miss him.

He will always be remembered as a great man in all respects who had the biggest heart. His gentle but hardworking hands were always busy gardening or cooking and he was so proud to share the fruits of his labour. He was a man who respected his Italian culture and kept those traditions alive, even making a few of his own - Porkfest and Tomato-making weekend to name a few.

Rest now dear Mimmo, you've earned it.
We love you dearly and hold you close in our hearts as we walk through our days always remembering the goodness of Mimmo. We truly feel your strength and ask that you continue to send it to those whom you've left behind.

In questo momento di dolore, la nostra speranza e che Mimmo abbia la pace che certamente si é meritato.
Ci manchi troppo. Il ricordo del tuo grande amore per noi rende ancora piu vivo il nostro dolore.

Friends will be received at Glendale Funeral Home, 1810 Albion Road (HWY 27 & Albion Rd.), on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 4-8 p.m and Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 11:30a.m.-1:30p.m., a funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Glendale Funeral Home Chapel.
